ONGOING STUDIES

Our current research aims to collect data to inform the development of intervention programs that address stress and mood concerns using tailored treatment strategies that may best serve youth.

The LEAP Study

Learning Experiences And Perspectives

The LEAP study involves completing questionnaires about youths’ experiences with mood concerns and stress. Participants will complete a 30-minute online questionnaire and receive a $25 Visa gift card for complete participation in the study.

Eligibility: To be eligible for the LEAP study, participants must (1) self-identify as Black/African American, (2) be between the ages of 14-17, (3) endorse having experienced mood concerns or increased stress.

The Connect2Heal Study

The Connect2Heal study involves completing questionnaires and participating in interviews where youth can share their thoughts about mood concerns and stress. The objective of this study is to gain insight into the healing spaces that youth find meaningful. We aim to explore the concept of healing without relying solely on these spaces, and to gain a better understanding of how our communities approach healing—both with and without professional therapy. Additionally, we aim to identify ways to create more spaces that align with these concepts of healing. Participants will receive a $100 Visa gift card for complete participation in the study.

Eligibility: To be eligible for the Connect2Heal study, participants must (1) self-identify as Black/African American, (2) currently be treated in an outpatient program for a mood or stress-related disorder, (3) be between the ages of 14-17
